Cruck Barn is a 17th century grade11 listed building, sympathetically converted to domestic use, some years ago.Inside on the ground floor is a large farmhouse kitchen/dining area, leading through to an even larger living/lounge space. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom and the bathroom and shower. There are two further gallery bedrooms at either end of the building. The whole building oozes with character, helped in no small way by the massive cruck beams.
Outside is a large lawn and a seperate driveway to the road.Ullswater is the nearest lake just 3 miles away and the mountain shopping centre of the northern lakes,Keswick is just a short drive away. There are fantastic walks in the district, the Helvellyn range and Blencathra, which is just over a mile away from Cruck Barn. There are also super walks over our land to Naddles Crag, affording superb views over the Mungrisedale valley and Blencathra. There are super pubs nearby, the Sportsmans at the bottom of the road,The Boot and Shoe in Greystoke village,The Mill Inn at Mungrisedale and the White Horse at Scales - the latter particularly highly recommended. All are dog friendly.
An added attaction from this year are Gyrocopter scenic flights from our own airstrip.Roger is one of the UK's best known and most experienced Gyrocopter instructors and a surprising number of 2011 Cruck Barn guests have taken a flight around the Lakes. For further information see the 'Experience flight' section of the RS Gyroplanes web site.
