History

History

The pictures below help to chart some of Roger's gyroplane flying history, starting as so many people did, with a Volks powered open-frame Bensen - through the years of owning and operating many different types of gyroplane, the flight testing of many others both here in the UK and elsewhere in the world - to the present day, represented, not least, by the fantastic Spanish-built ELA 07(S) twin seater.

Ireland

Ireland

Gyroplane flying in Ireland, and particularly Southern Ireland can be good fun(when it's not raining)There are many grass airstrips scattered about the country, making flying varied and interesting. The scenary is beautiful and the people generally warm and friendly and there are a small number of gyroplanes operating in the Republic including the superb ELA 07 and 07(S) twin seaters- which are both approved by the Irish Aviation Authority.

Flight Testing

BARNETT J4 B gyroplane. This is a vintage 1960s design from Jerrie Barnett in the USA - a classic with pleasant benign handling. This Irish registered example is owned by Terry Brennan of Limerick who has spent the past four years completing the aircraft.RS was asked to test fly it,in order that an Irish Aviation Authority permit to fly could be granted, and his flight test report will appear on these pages in the future, together with other types of gyroplanes.
Also featured on this page,is the very modern and quite beautiful creation from Celier Aviation, which Roger also flight tested for it's Irish owner.
